タイ・ミャオ族

　タイの山岳に住むミャオ族の子供がかぶる帽子です。鶏のトサカを模したこのような帽子には、子供が悪霊にさらわれないようにという願いがこめられています。この帽子は女児用で木綿にアップリケや重ね縫いで模様を施しています。ミャオ族は中国、ヴェトナム、タイ、ラオスに居住していますが、彼らの起源や名称、歴史については、まだ多くは明らかにされていません。一般的にミャオ族と称される彼らの自称はモン族です。

This cotton cap is decorated with applique, overlapped sewing, and wool. The Miao are mountain-dwelling peoples of China , Vietnam , Laos , and Thailand , and they call themselves Hmong. Much of their origin and history remains unknown.
