　中国貴州省の苗（ミャオ）族の女性用衣装です。一般的にミャオ族と称される彼らの自称はモン族です。彼らの起源や名称、歴史については、まだ多くは明らかにされていません。この藍染の上衣は、木綿布で美しい刺繍が施されています。糸を紡ぎ、布を織り、藍染めをし、縫い上げて刺繍を施すまでの全工程を、苗族の女性が家で行います。色鮮やかな刺繍で、龍、あるいは蝶のようなモティーフが花や蔓とともにあらわされています。

　This is a woman’s jacket made by the Miao of China. Although they are generally referred to as Miao, they prefer to call themselves Hmong. Much of their origin and history remains unknown.
　Miao women traditionally adorn the clothing of all family members. They do the spinning, weaving, indigo-dyeing, sewing and embroidery all by themselves.
　The exquisite embroidery shows fanciful motifs of dragon or butterfly.
