　タイに住むカレン族の既婚女性が、日常着として身にまとう袖無のブラウス（上衣）です。後帯機（こうたいばた）で織った2枚の木綿布を中央で接ぎ合わせ、頭と両腕を通せるようにその部分は縫い残してあります。黒色のような深い藍染の地に映える赤い木綿糸の刺繍の上に、ビーズのようにつやつやした白い種子をアクセントとして飾りつけています。カレン族の女性は熟練した機織技術で知られています。
　

　This is an over-blouse traditionally worn by married Karen women. It consists of two pieces of cloth, hand-woven of homespun indigo-dyed cotton, which are sewn together except for the neckline and armholes.The bright red embroidery of cotton thread covers the lower half of the blouse where pearly white seeds further accent the design.Karen women are known for their dexterous weaving technique.
